These days you would almost have to be dead or have lived somewhere far away to not know how to send a text message. Most people these days spend more time texting than they do on the telephone. If you don't feel like speaking to anyone a great alternative is to send a text. So in case you do not know how to send a text I will try to put this in the simplest of terms so you can be on your way to sending texts and get yourself caught up with technology.

How to send a text?

  • Find your menu on your mobile phone
  • Find messages and click on that or enter to confirm your selection
  • Find where it says New Text Messages and click on that
  • Type in the mobile number you want the text message sent to. You can send to email addresses but not landlines.
  • After typing in the cell phone number click ok or enter
  • There are 3 letters on each key. You'll need to click the button to rotate through the letters. For example, if you want the c, click the number 2 button 3 times (A, B, C). If you have T9, type each button once for each letter and the phone will create the word. To scroll through the word options for T9, use the up and down keys to select the right word. Or, on Verizon phones, press 0.
  • Continue typing in your message. When the blinking cursor moves past the letter you have just typed, type the next one. (In T9, type continuously).
  • Press send
  • Text message has been sent

Another very easy way to send a text message from your cell or mobile device is to go to your phone book and locate the person you want to send a text to.

  • Click on the name you wish to send and find your options menu. In your options menu you will find the options key
  • Click options and one of your options should be to send that person a text
  • Click that and start typing your text message
